No used market exists yet — the radio hasn't shipped. The bargain angle is the used IC-7100 below.

What Icom announced

After a summer of teasing a locked display case codenamed X-026 — shown at Dayton Hamvention, Ham Radio Friedrichshafen, and WRTC 2026 with no specs and no name — Icom pulled the covers off at Tokyo Ham Fair on August 29, 2026. The X-026 is the IC-7110, the direct successor to the IC-7100 and Icom's first serious update to its all-band mobile line in over a decade.

From Icom's pre-release materials, the headline features:

What Icom has not said: the price, or when it ships. Dealers are taking pre-order deposits with final pricing and delivery dates marked "to be confirmed."

What this means for used IC-7100 prices

Here's the bargain hunter's read — not a prediction, just how this usually plays out. When a successor is announced, current owners start thinking about upgrading. Some list their old rig to fund the new one. Used supply ticks up, and patient buyers get their shot.

$600 or less

The used IC-7100 fair market value is $800 (median of 37 recorded sold listings). Under the 25% rule, a genuine bargain is $600 or less. If successor buzz shakes clean IC-7100s loose at that price, that's buying right — the same logic that's carried hams through forty years of shack upgrades. See the IC-7100 price page →

Two things to keep straight: a $600 IC-7100 is a bargain today, whether or not you care about the 7110 — the math doesn't need the new radio to exist. And waiting for the IC-7110 means paying full new-retail price on a radio with no ship date. The 25% rule rewards the buyer who moves when the used price is right, not the one who waits for the shiny box.

Common questions

When will the Icom IC-7110 ship?

Icom hasn't announced a release date. It was unveiled as pre-release information on August 29, 2026 — specifications and timing can still change before production.

How much will the IC-7110 cost?

Not announced. UK dealers are taking £250 pre-order deposits with final pricing to be confirmed. Anyone quoting you a firm price today is guessing.

Is the IC-7100 discontinued?

Icom positions the IC-7110 as the direct successor to the IC-7100, its long-running all-band mobile rig. If you own a 7100, nothing about your radio changes — but the used market is where the action will be.

Should I buy a used IC-7100 now or wait for the IC-7110?

Buy on the math, not the hype. A clean used IC-7100 at $600 or less clears the 25% rule today — that's a buy-right price with forty years of logic behind it. The IC-7110 will be new-retail money whenever it ships, and there's no date yet.
