The FT-101E is a set that combines a solid state transmitter, receiver and a tube final amplifier. Its solid state features offer high-performance, low-current characteristics and its tube amplifier provides an almost mismatch-resistant transmitter and tuner stage.
The FT-101E accepts 117 V AC or 12 V DC via its integrated power supply. For mobile use, a separate switch can turn off tube heaters in receive mode to save battery.
VOX, CW break-in, noise blanker, WWV/WWVH calibrators, and dual VFO/crystal adaptors are integrated.
Set the VFO Select Switch to INT for normal operation. Use the MODE Switch to choose LSB, USB, AM, CW, or TUNE. Adjust RF GAIN (lever) and AF GAIN (knob) for optimal signal levels. Select the desired band with the BAND Switch, tune with the Tuning Knob (16 kHz per revolution), and use the Clarifier for ±3 kHz offset if needed.
